SUMMARY STATEMENT OR LEGAL NOTICE LANGUAGE:

 

All appointees must live in and be registered to vote in Whatcom County and, if applicable, meet the residency, employment, and/or affiliation requirements of the position. Vacancies are often filled by reappointment of current members to a second term.

 

BOARD OF EQUALIZATION

1 Vacancy, current member eligible to reapply, 3-year term.

 

Applicants must live in County Council District 2. The Board generally meets on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with occasional Tuesday meetings as needed. Members receive $150 per diem for attending hearings. The Board ensures that all properties are valued at 100% of market value. The Board may equalize property values by either lowering or raising land/building assessments.
