SUMMARY STATEMENT OR LEGAL NOTICE LANGUAGE:

 

County Council recently increased the membership of the Public Health Advisory Board. With the existing vacant positions, there is a total of 11 vacancies. One term is a partial term ending 1/31/2024. To create staggered terms for the remaining 10 vacancies, 5 terms will end 1/31/2025 and 5 terms will expire 1/31/2026.  Council must determine the term length that each appointee receives. PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY BOARD

11 Vacancies. Various terms. Membership preference shall be given to tribal, racial, ethnic, and other minorities. The advisory board shall consist of a balance of persons with expertise, career experience, and consumer experience in areas impacting public health and with populations served by the health department, including healthcare access and quality; physical environment, including built and natural environments; social and economic sectors, including housing, basic needs, education, and employment; business and philanthropy; communities that experience health inequities; government, and; tribal communities and tribal government. The board’s composition shall include:

 

Members with expertise and experience in the areas listed above

                     Consumers of public health services

                     Community members with lived experience in the areas listed above

                     Community stakeholders, including nonprofit organizations, the business community, and those regulated by public health

Membership preference shall be given to tribal, racial, ethnic, and other minorities. Meets every other month.
