SUMMARY STATEMENT OR LEGAL NOTICE LANGUAGE:
Staff requests review and discussion of the final Whatcom County Coastal and Riverine Compound Flood Vulnerability and Risk Assessment report. Washington Department of Ecology provided $100,000.00 dollars in funding to implement this project and the County contracted with Environmental Science Associates (ESA) to complete the assessment with input and support from the County and partners. Partners on the project include Cities of Bellingham, Ferndale, and Blaine, Port of Bellingham, US Geological Survey, Washington Sea Grant, Lummi Nation, and the Department of Ecology. This assessment selects several sea level rise and compound flood scenarios and identifies impacted assets and ecosystems and informs future actions to prepare for and respond to projected impacts.
