SUMMARY STATEMENT OR LEGAL NOTICE LANGUAGE:
Whatcom County Health and Community Services Department seeks one councilmember to serve as the liaison for the Climate Vulnerability Assessment (CVA) Project. The project is funded by Foundational Public Health Services dollars and is specifically focused on the public health impacts of two imminent climate issues on the residents of Whatcom County - wildfire smoke and extreme heat. The CVA timeline is from July 2023 to June 2024. The responsibilities of the liaison include participating in a focus group, reviewing the final report and StoryMap drafts, and providing feedback. Results of the CVA will help guide infrastructure, program, and policy decisions to enhance and promote health equity.
