SUMMARY STATEMENT OR LEGAL NOTICE LANGUAGE:

 

Per WCC 3.08.100(A), the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office requests authorization for the County Executive to approve the purchase of an Applied Biosystems™ RapidHIT™ ID System using authorized cooperative National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) via a Participating Addendum, Washington State Contract (WSC) #20722 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies). This system will allow investigators to process collected DNA samples, and learn within 90 minutes, if there is a DNA match. The total cost of this purchase, including equipment, software, delivery, set-up, and sales tax will not exceed $210,784.83. Funding for this purchases was received via a reimbursable grant from the US Department of Justice in 2024 (Contract #202409023). Expenditure authority wa authorized in the General Fund for this purchase on Supplemental ID #2025-4931, as approved on Ordinance #2025-025
