SUMMARY STATEMENT OR LEGAL NOTICE LANGUAGE:
Whatcom County Council established the Climate Impact Advisory Committee through Ordinance 2017-080 on December 5, 2017. Whatcom County Council allocated $50,000 to support Climate Action Planning in Whatcom County in the 2019-2020 biennial budget. Staff released RFP #19-50 requesting support for Climate Action Planning services which closed on June 25, 2019. An interview committee comprised of Whatcom County staff and one member of the Climate Impact Advisory Committee selected Cascadia Consulting Group, Inc. to provide support in updating the Climate Action Plan including completion of greenhouse gas inventory and business as usual forecast and analysis, coordination of climate vulnerability assessment, and review implementation status of 2007 Climate Action Plan and identification of mitigation and adaptation strategies. The attached contract including a scope of work accurately reflects the request from the Climate Impact Advisory Committee and the request from County Council as described in Ordinance 2017-080. Staff and the committee are excited to make significant progress towards addressing climate change in partnership with Cascadia Consulting Group, Inc.
