SUMMARY STATEMENT OR LEGAL NOTICE LANGUAGE:

Aly Pennucci brings over 15 years of committed service in the public sector to the role of Deputy Executive for Whatcom County. As a trained city planner and fiscal policy expert, as well as proven leader, she brings a depth of knowledge and wide array of experience tackling public policy issues and shaping governmental processes.

Aly most recently served as Deputy Director for the Seattle City Council's Central Staff, where she planned and executed the Council's review and adoption of Seattle's $7.8 billion annual budget and created new systems for fiscal transparency, oversight, and budget process efficiencies. She led a team of analysts that worked day-to-day in support of the Council's policy and budget priorities across all policy fields - including budget (operating and capital), administrative services, land use, public safety, public utilities, economic development, housing, and transportation.

Aly brings a wealth of expertise in permitting, code development, and long-range planning from her time in the City of Seattle and City of Minneapolis Planning Departments. In Seattle, she led work on community planning, revising land use policies, including policies to support neighborhood business districts, revamping of the City's design review process, and green building incentives. This work built on her time as a Senior Planner for the City of Minneapolis where her portfolio included work in permitting and development review, historic preservation, and code development.

Aly will be a valuable asset in the Deputy Executive position bringing a passion for public service to Whatcom County, as well as significant fiscal, government process, and land use expertise. She is eager to contribute to the vitality ...
