SUMMARY STATEMENT OR LEGAL NOTICE LANGUAGE:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held by the Whatcom County Council in the Council chambers, Whatcom County Courthouse, 311 Grand Avenue, on Tuesday May 7, 2024 at 6:00 pm, or at a later date (AB2024-259).
The purpose of the public hearing is to review and receive comments on the county and Opportunity Council's past performance using $857,925.00 Community Development Block Grant - Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funds for public services addressing coronavirus response as well as a Microenterprise Assistance Program for the benefit of Low- and Moderate-Income Home-owners and Microenterprise Businesses through the Opportunity Council.
CDBG-Coronavirus funds were provided by HUD through the Washington Department of Commerce with the goal to prepare, prevent, and respond to the Coronavirus Pandemic. These funds are targeted to benefit primarily low to moderate income individuals.
An outline of the funded activities will be available for review at the Whatcom County Executive Office by Friday May 3, 2024 (email request to: executive@co.whatcom.wa.us). Comments may also be submitted in writing to Whatcom County Council until the public hearing has been closed. The Council is currently holding all meetings in a hybrid format.
